an old cute site is still alive
Dec. 14th, 2010 06:39 pmwww.lavendise.com used to be this cute/sometimes-cutesy site created by a young man for his girlfriend, who had left him or something a little tragic and romantic. I think it was very popular around 1999-2000, and I just ran across it recently and it is still there, although reworked and maybe not as cute/cutesy as it had been. It looks like he has been trying to get folks together to talk about 'the fae', and he is trying to have chat and other social media stuff go on over there, although it looks a little slow. I figured I would mention it here because I had a secret soft spot for it ten or so years ago, and I hope it gets popular again and beings benefit. It still contains a lot of links, about elvish language, lots of other folklore and odds and ends. It may still be a little cheesy in ways, and yet some of the teachers he mentions are solid, especially Orion Foxwood, whose book on the faery path I really recommend. I figured I would mention it here for those who had maybe forgotten about it over the years.

on 2010-12-15 11:52 pm (UTC)It did seem like a combination of people who took My Little Pony seriously as soulbonds or something, and those who thought that bright plastic was cute but had its limits--but I always thought it maybe had more potential than had happened, and when he started to open areas of different types or tribes or something, I thought that seemed interesting, even if I didn't stick around to see what happened. I remember the dating posts being sort of cute and sincere and wistful.
