Introduction
What name do you want to be referred to as?
Syn or if you're the affectionate type.....megoon
What is your 'kin type?
Daoine Sidhe with a Dragon side
How long have you been awakened?
All my life (almost 21 years) I knew I wasn't human but knowing exactly what I was until I'd say about...10 years ago.
Describe your awakening experience.
Complicated.
As a child I was already a bit odd I suppose. Mom is an Otherkin, from a family of Otherkins. Dad comes from Therians (on the Native side, not sure about the white side.) I guess it wasn't as rough as some peoples.
When I was younger, I always got made fun of and laughed at because I called everyone else human. When a teacher asked me what I wanted to be when I grow up, I said a warrior. She asked me why. I told her "Because I'm a dragon fairy." Needless to say, that did not do well from my already strange behavior.
Later on I learned what I was and had a minor flip out at my dad because he had an idea of what I was but not sure. While my mom can't come to terms with what she is (merefolk) my dad has helped me learn more of what I am. Until I chose my own spiritual path.
It makes sense since dragons can mate with humans and those of Faerie as well.

While my father was completely encouraging, my mother denies what she is as a coping mech. She wants normality so she was always telling me that I was crazy that dad was too.
So it was hard on that part.
But my family has been very supportive for the most part.
The only thing hard about it is the spiritual aspect of it where me and my father disagree.
He feels I'm evil as an otherkin if I don't embrace Christianity, but otherwise, more beneficial than anything.

It's the human in my father that needs the Christianity to believe that other than shifting into a Hawk, he's normal.
I tell him normality is subjective but eh.
I follow the old ways :)
He the new.

I'm curious, how do you react to iron?

My dad always claimed he was an alien, when I was growing up. I always thought it was a joke, but looking back, I wonder.

Sorry, tangent.

I understand that. It's fine. I'm used to the question as a need of proof.
But at the same time it's also kind of frustrating since, as there is a dragon part to me, my reaction is not as violent.
While it's good for your friend to see who is real or not, I think he should be a bit careful. It can get be insulting or seen as a threat to make those of the fae touch iron without their knowledge. I know I myself would not be too friendly. :/

I mostly get really uncomfortable and back far, far away. It makes me dizzy and really distorts my senses, as it's meant to. When I've had to touch it for long periods of time, it does burn or "bite" if my skin is unprotected. I can usually sense it before I get close enough for that level of a reaction.

That's good though that he's cautious. Sometimes our kind can be....not so lovely. :/
Have you ever been forced to be in a plane or car for hours and just felt like you were....fading for lack of a better term?

See, I don't mind those things, probably because I grew up taking road trips and flights during the summer. I would always sleep during the longer ones, though. The car is a safe place for me when traveling. If anything, I feel better when speeding along the highway with the windows open. It's like swimming underwater in that it's the closest thing I'll get to flight in this body. I feel a greater entrapment when walking around. I'm always feeling like I should be able to take off, almost to the point that looking up into the sky can move me to tears.

Oh I can understand that. Have you ever had that heart breaking ache when you're alone outside that you dont even realize you're crying until someone points it out or you touch your face?
